As a distributor, we know that change is constant. But some changes carry more weight—and the upcoming Section 232 tariffs are one of those moments.
May 2 is the final day MSI will honor current pre-tariff pricing on a wide range of pipe fittings, valves, and nipples.
These adjustments are significant. For key product lines, we’re seeing list increases of 10% to 25%. With copper joining the tariff list and logistics costs remaining high, the overall impact is substantial.
What the Deadline Means
MSI will maintain current list prices on affected items through end of day Friday, May 2, 2025. Here’s what that entails:
- Orders submitted by May 2 will be processed at current pricing
- Standard quantity limits apply to discourage stockpiling
- All previous net price files expire after May 2
This is more than a routine update—it’s a pricing reset. If you’re referencing outdated files, now is the time to update.
How We’re Advising Customers
- Review your upcoming project needs. If you have material-heavy jobs on the horizon, now is the time to assess what’s needed.
- Connect with your MSI representative. We can help identify which SKUs are most sensitive to pricing or lead time shifts.
- Act promptly. High-demand items are already moving as customers prepare for the change.
What Happens Starting May 5?
On Monday, May 5, MSI will implement new list pricing reflecting increased import costs driven by the 2025 Section 232 tariffs and expanded copper restrictions.
Product categories including forged stainless, carbon steel, brass, bronze, and aluminum are among those directly impacted.
While your discount structure will remain unchanged, your base pricing will adjust to reflect the new landscape. We strongly encourage customers to stay ahead of the change and plan accordingly.
